An Introvert

Google says that an Introvert is a shy, reticent person. But if you will ask an inttovert about it, they will tell you that there is a big difference between being shy and being an introvert. Introverts often stay on the sidelines at social events because socializing drains their energy. they are selective about how much they “put themselves out there” because they don’t want to crash afterwards.

Shy people, on the other hand, avoid socializing out of fear of the unfamiliar. The thought of talking to a stranger, or speaking in front of a group scares them. Instead of worrying about energy drain, they are concerned about making a fool of themselves, or being rejected and judged. Now You might be thinking, “I fit into both of those descriptions”. If that’s the case, then you might be introverted and shy. The two characteristics can occur together or separately. This means both introverts and extroverts can be shy. Likewise, both introverts and extroverts can be self-assured.

Introvert comes from Latin intro-, “inward,” and vertere, “turning.” It describes a person who tends to turn inward mentally. Introverts usually like to spend most of their time alone. introverts can be warm, interested in others, and powerful in their own right. If you have a close relationship with an Introvert you might know that they are pretty interesting people to talk and spend time with.

Introverts are very picky with whom they give their energy to. they prefer to reserve their time, intensity and spirit exclusively to those who reflect sincerity.

Struggle of an Introvert in Modern world

  • we spend time thinking about going out more often but when we actually do we can’t wait to go back to the comfort of our home.
  • People often telling you that you don’t talk much.
  • constantly mistaken as being rude for not talking much with other people.
  • Other people often assumes that Introverts don’t like other people much that’s why they don’t talk to them.
  • Most introverts hate talking on the phone so when a phone call comes you just don’t want to pick it up and let it go to voicemail.
  • Lack of skills for small talk.
  • And the most important one the tendency to overthink everything.

As Anne frank said “I think a lot, but I don’t say much.” which basically sums up the story of a Introvert. But Society tells us to speak up and speak out, even if that means our sentences are bloated with useless chatter. Let me tell you In the present world being an Introvert is quite hard a world where extroversion is considered the norm introversion is considered to be a bad thing by many people.

Introverts don’t need to be cured, fixed or magically transformed into extroverts this isn’t possible anyway. Extroverts are not superior to introverts, and vice versa. We are different personality types with different needs, desires, and behaviors. Unfortunately, in our culture, different is scary.

At last this quote by Susan cain for all the Introverts out there who thinks that there is something wrong with them just because society says so.

“Stay true to your own nature. If you like to do things in a slow and steady way, don’t let others make you feel as if you have to race. If you enjoy depth, don’t force yourself to seek breadth.”

~ Susan Cain
